The code and conventions of our film/opening sequence.

All opening sequences have to include titles of the director, producer, actors names and so on and these make the basics of the beginning of a film. In our opening sequence we immediatly showed the two main production companies for the film and started the film straight after with fadein-fade outs of the titles.

Research into appropriate institution for our film.

I researched about what kind of film companies would produce our film. I looked at only British companies because our film is made from a low budget and therefore the major film companies such as Universal won't be able to distribute our film or make enough money. Because of that I concluded that Film4, Working Title and BBC Films would be the best major British companies as they are know to do a range of films including dramas and documentaries.

Planning, meeting stuff from week five.

When we finished the final bits of the editing we started to experiment with the music for our final piece using Garageband. Then we edited the sound of the actual sequence to cut out any unwanted sound e.g the wind. Afterwards we added the voice over of Mary reading out her suicide note and we added snippets of the voiceover in the appropriate places in the sequence.

Planning, meeting stuff from week four.

We had done the majority of the film editing and it was very successful. We thought that in order to make it a more believable opening we decided that we will use LiveType to create believable credits. We decided to use a bridge for one of the companies (Bridge Productions) to signify a key element in the film. Here the bridge is where Mary may or may not commit suicide and we did this to prepare the audience for the type of film.

Planning, meeting stuff from week three.

When we finished all the filming we looked back at what we had and discussed about what shots to use and how to overcome any difficulties such as the lighting. We then started to use Final Cut Express and tried out different shots and what order they should go in to make the sequence run smoothly.
